As a parent.....

No matter how hard we try, the childhood always finds a way of slipping through our fingers.

A Day at the Lake....

In my mind lies a world of perfection. The memories and the ideas. I know there are some not so perfect thoughts, feelings, or rememberings but they're in the very back, collecting dust and being forgotten, if not forgotten already.

Today, we're going to talk about the perfect ideas caged up in my head. On this particular day, I envisioned a perfect sunny day at the beach. With a perfectly happy family. And perfect activities for the kids.

Seeing that we don't have any ocean's beaches anywhere near us, we decided to go to a perfect lake in the mountains. It was sunny and warm. We found a perfect boat for a perfect price. (It was on sale!) And my perfect idea was forming out nicely. We loaded everything up and found a portion of "beach" that was vacant. Everywhere else was packed! Couldn't get more perfect than that!

We got all set up and headed out to the water. But then my prefect day was put in jepordy, but without a second thought knew it would just blow over without blocking a single sun ray. We were going to be ok.

On second thought, maybe a slight slipup in the perfection of the day. But I was going to be a little lenient. Enough to let the clouds blow over then resume the sunny day in which still shown bright in my perfect little mind.

I was sitting in my chair when I felt something. One small something with no source to come from other than, UP! I waited (and held my breath) for another small something and sure enough, I felt it. I immediately voiced my disgust to my dear husband, but remained optimistic that it would pass quickly.

And quickly it did NOT pass by. My refusal to let go of a perfect day at the beach was not going to budge because DANG IT, we just got here and I just set everything up, and we have our own stinking BEACH!!!

We just did a little rearranging. That's all.

A few more layers to cover my perfect offspring's minds, that were developing on their own.

The rain eventually stopped. And the wind, not so much.

but that's ok. It was perfect! For this picture!

It helped with the momemtum to get that perfect little mouth around the perfectly LARGE bite!

(yes, Mykael. I totally just took that picture. You're welcome!) :o)

Our perfect boat being used for the prefect reason.

There's really nothing perfect about this picture. Other than the perfectly humungus....mountains in the background. What? You looking at something else that's perfectly large??? The water?! Yes, it was.

After awhile, the envisioned day resumed to where it needed to be. The kids had a great time with all the sand castle equipment I brought along. The tupperware drawer had loads of fun bowls and cups to use.

The water even became warm. (I think perhaps because of the perfect 70 degree temperatures we were having.)

The only not-so-perfect incident that occured that day. After this picture I was instantly up to my waist in water pulling this little eager fish out of the water. He found a rather deep hole. Real quick!

Perfect frollicking.

A perfect day. Wouldn't you agree?

Don't forget to brush.....

Let us NOT forget the importance of brushing on this "special day".

Al Capone

Sacajuwea (I really don't know how to spell that! But it's a pretty good attempt.)

Schmeeee

"Tom" and "little tom". (hee hee hee hee)
They were really having too much fun, but I just couldn't bring myself to stop them!
TOO funny!

Jumping on the bandwagon.

Eli seems to be the "instigator" in the family. I think because he always makes, what he's doing, look like SO much fun. Even if it's putting a diaper on your head. He came in my room wearing this and then all the kids had to do it. Of course my first thought was 'get the camera!'

Kiss a 1000 frogs before you find your prince

Frogs! -Cute to look at, but not so cute to touch. (As Mykael and Eli demonstrate here.)

When Eli was shown the frog, he would yell and make this face. It was the funniest thing. So, we kept doing it to him, just for pure entertainment on our part. I love being a parent.

"Oh, just kiss it already Kael...maybe this is your prince!"

Fish out of water

In this lovely city that i live, we have "irrigation" water that runs the deep gutters on, almost, a daily basis. ALL of my children are drawn to it like it's their second home. One day, they, and the neighbors started a "project". "Let's see how big of a dam we can build and how much water can we pool up"? Well....It flooded their yard and the neighbors behind me. But when your grass is being watered for free....who could complain?

Easter

I know i'm a little behind on this, but the pictures are cute and wanted to post them anyways. Easter was spent with Uncle Coley and Shanna who both flew in from different destinations. Coley really got into the egg dying thing and ended up doubling the amount of eggs to color that i had originally planned which resulted in another trip to the store. It's ok, cause the kids had fun looking for the "goods".

We kind of did things a little different this year. Instead of having a basket waiting for them in the morning full of treats, we (or i should say, the Easter Bunny) hid ALL the treats and toys outside in the yard and gave them all empty baskets and sent them on their way. We had ended up buying things that the kids could do/play together. And in lew of Jaden having just started baseball, we bought a SOFT bat and SOFT balls so that when daddy practiced with Jade, the others could participate also. SO...when they found these items, they would all be using them and there would be nothing to fight about. The nice thing about this all was, we did this on saturday and that left us to spend easter sunday thinking about the real reason. A quiet peaceful day thinking about Him!

Oh! It's so toot!

We had the opportunity today to go see and hold a baby bear. So we all loaded up, and got there to find a long line outside. It was kind of cold so i went to stand in line while the rest stayed and watched a movie in the car. (We never were able to do that when i was little. We had to stand out in the cold with mom and dad and freeze our tookises off right along with them.) Finally I had advanced far enough in the line that i was now close to the door. That's when the family was able to join me. I have to say that it wasn't that bad waiting because, 1- I met a nice woman in line (whose family was also in the car waiting for her advancement) 2- That baby bear sure was a cute thing. (Reminded me of Gizmo on the movie Gremlins.) and 3- They let me use my own camera for pictures just so i could blog it! I was so excited!

I guess i could mention that the little furry mammal came from Bear World in Rexburg Id. A great place to visit and we can't wait to go there ourselves. (A little advertising for them. It's the least i could do for them letting me take my own pictures.)

Happy Birthday

We (females) are all still princess at heart, no matter our age.

Mykael got this cake from her Aunt Launa, and even though Mykael may be 10, it was still very exciting to get it.

The memories we have of our birthdays will always be etched in our minds. Hopefully they were positive ones. We all like to feel special during our special day.
